What will good behavior get you?

Grayson with his sunglasses.

So...we got a new toy this past week and I will have to say that the boys love it. It is a water slide from Little Tykes. I ordered it several weeks ago and it was on back order, but it finally came in. Gavin actually earned the slide for good behavior. We recently introduced a new point system for Gavin and his behavior. He gets a point when he does what he is told or before he is told and he losses a point when he does something wrong. The goal was 10 points and he worked his way up and down the number scale for almost 2 weeks. His reward was this water slide. I know you are probably thinking this is a nice reward for meeting the first goal and I agree, however, I had already ordered the slide prior to the point system taking place so it was easy for it to be the reward. :) It has made a big impression on him and he really loves the slide. Now when we talk about getting a point, he tells us that he already got his slide so we are working on explaining to him that he can work toward something else. We will see how long this lasts!
Anyway, here are several pictures over the past few days. The boys have had so much fun on this thing it has already paid for itself.

More of Gavin's Photography

Nurturing New Talents

I think Gavin may have a new hobby. He has discovered our digital camera and has been wondering around the house taking pictures. He can even get the little boys to smile while he is taking a picture. He may have to give me a lesson! ;)

Play Dough to the Rescue!

"What is this stuff?" Grayson wondered...

Gage & Gavin

OK...so maybe my little ones are deprived, but I have not pulled out the play dough in awhile. Last time I tried it, they ate it, so it has been tucked away for quite some time. Last night I was trying to cook dinner and everyone was demanding my attention, of course Billy was not even close to being home, and honestly I was about to pull my hair out, so I decided to find some activity for them to do so I could keep my hair and cook dinner! :) Praise the Lord! I pulled out the play dough. My 3 little boys sat passively at the kitchen table for over an hour interested in this little blob of goo. The little boys did not put it in their mouth. They just sat there in amazement of all the shapes they could make out of this stuff. Grayson was the last man standing. I think he went an hour and a half. I will definitely be pulling out the play dough more often. I also think that the little boys have graduated from babies to toddlers. Their world is growing larger everyday.

Are you my Mother?

OK...so I left out one little story this week, but I decided it was worth telling. One day while the babies were napping, Gavin and I started hearing this chirping sound from the front porch. When we got to the porch, we noticed a little baby bird sitting outside the window. You could tell that he was too little to fly yet. He seemed a little lost and was definitely looking for his mother. Now all of you mothers out there are probably familiar with the Dr. Seuss book "Are You My Mother?". I know I have read it more than 100 times. I never expected it to come to life on my front porch. Gavin talked to him through the window for awhile telling him that he was not his mother. Thankfully, the little bird found his mother a few hours later.

Double Trouble

Gage the day after his haircut. I am a little sad because he looks more like a big boy. :(

Grayson perched up on the side of the stairs. I think he wants me to read to him.

Doctors, Haircuts, VBS... oh my!

This has been an eventful week. Gage & Grayson had their 2 year check up. Gage weighed 31 pounds and Grayson was 28. Gage was 35 3/4 inches & Grayson was 33 1/2. You would have never known that they were NICU babies. I know they will be towering over me before I know it. All three boys got haircuts this week. Grayson kept most of his hair, but Gage and Gavin definitely have a new look. Gavin attended VBS (vacation bible school) all week. It really had an impact on him. On Thursday, when I asked him what he learned for the day he said "I learned to cry to Jesus Mama." And on Friday, Gavin had a play date with his friend Nate (who also went to VBS) and they came home singing a christian song. Here are the lyrics below. The picture is of them singing with arm motions. I am pretty impressed...considering they are 4. We had alot of parent traveling this week. Billy was out of town for 3 days early in the week and I went to Dallas on Saturday for an over night trip. We are gearing up for another hot summer week. More to come soon. Blessings! :)

God of Wonders - Chris Tomlin
Lord Of all creation
Of water, earth, and sky
The heavens are Your tabernacle
Glory to the Lord on high
God of wonders beyond our galaxy
You are holy, holy
The universe declares Your majesty
You are holy, holy
Lord of heaven and earth
Lord of heaven and earth
Early in the morning
I will celebrate the light
When I stumble in the darkness
I will call Your name by night
God of wonders beyond our galaxy
You are holy, holy
The universe declares Your majesty
You are holy, holy
Lord of heaven and earth
Lord of heaven and earth
Hallelujah to the Lord of heaven and earth
Hallelujah to the Lord of heaven and earth
Hallelujah to the Lord of heaven and earth
God of wonders beyond our galaxy
You are holy, holy
Precious Lord reveal Your heart to me
Father holy, holy
The universe declares Your majesty
You are holy, holy
Hallelujah to the Lord of heaven and earth
Hallelujah to the Lord of heaven and earth
Hallelujah to the Lord of heaven and earth

Gage after church. He really wanted to jump in the water instead of take a picture.

Grayson after church today.

Gavin cooking eggs for Daddy.

Happy Father's Day

This was a nice father's day weekend with Daddy. Gavin helped me make eggs this morning, just for Daddy....and the little boys too. He was really proud of himself. After breakfast, we all got ready to go to church. Our pastor was preaching about our God of second chances. He truly is a God of second chances, we just have to go to Him. As parents, aren't we parents of second chances? Our little ones come to us when they have fallen down or done something wrong and we pick them up and tell them to try again. It is such a blessing to be a parent because it allows us to understand why God loves us so much and why He will always lift us up. God is our father in heaven and in the spirit of Father's Day lets not forget to thank Him for all He has done in our lives. Let go and let God! :)

Boys and their TV's

Yesterday, Gavin finally had his four year wellness doctor visit. One child or the other has managed to be sick for the past month...making it hard to complete a wellness visit. He weighted 41 lbs (75%) and was 42 1/2 inches (90%). We may have a tall little boy on our hands. He was such a big boy as he received 2 shots. After the visit, we stopped by Sonic to get a slush for reward of behavior. As we pulled out of Sonic, I looked in the back seat and my four year old, who rarely naps, was falling asleep. It was 4:00pm and anyone who is a mother knows that if your older child takes a nap that late, they will never go to bed in the evening. Of course, this was the case with Gavin yesterday evening.

Billy and I chose to let him watch a movie in our room since we knew he was not going to be ready for bed at his normal time. As 9:30 approached, Billy when into the room and instructed Gavin that it was time to go to bed and Gavin became sassy and possessive of "OUR" bed and "OUR" television. He was explaining to his father that everything in that room was his and he wanted to sleep there. Billy preceded to explain to Gavin that it was fine if he wanted to have our things, but he would take possession of Gavin's prized possessions. Billy quietly shut the door and came out telling me the story of how sassy our four year old was to him. About 30 seconds passed and Gavin came out of the bedroom, jumped into his Daddy's arms and said "I'm sorry Daddy, you can have your bedroom back and I can have my toys back, but we can both share the TV."

Look Out Bloggers, Here I Come!

Well...I have been considering starting a blog for awhile, but I have always felt like I would not have enough time. But I am finding that time is passing so fast that I am forgetting the small things that my little ones do. I hope that journaling in this blog will help me to remember precious little details of my life. So look out bloggers here I come.
